Divorce Speech:

  • refraining from verbal misdeeds such as lying, divisive speech, harsh speech, and senseless speech.  During this difficult time, it is important for you to think about your speech before you speak. Formulate your thoughts before they are verbalized.  Are you being as kind as you can or are you reacting to something?

Your speech should always be kind, even if kind words are not being spoken to you.  This will diffuse and confuse - your former partner will be surprised that he or she is not rattling you and not achieving his or her divisive goal.  It will also calm the waters for a more fruitful and beneficial conversation to follow.
